HAMMER TOES AND PAW TOES

It is one of the most common diseases and deformities of the forefoot. See the pictures.

It is very painful and quite often requires a surgical procedure.

Our therapeutic advise is:

In a very initial stage, an insole can be very convenient. But this is not advisable when we have an already established deformity.

The surgical procedure is very easy, with very little pain. It is outpatient and with local anaesthesia.

The cases with big deformities we treat them in an open way, with the extirpation of the first phalanges´s head. (see picture).

Less severe cases we treat them by Percutaneous surgery. (See schema).

One way or another the patient must wear a digital bandage for three weeks after removing the stitches, see picture.

We reject the use of needles or other type of wires to treat this deformity.
