QUINTUS VARUS

It is also called Tailor´s bunion. See the attached photography.

It causes a lot of pain in the external part of the feet, specially when you wear narrow shoes or when you practice sports like ski. In this case we recommend surgery because it is difficult to solve the problem in a more conservative way.

Surgical Precedures

  Open Surgery

  1. Extirpation of the metatarsian´s head.
  2. Exostosi´s pure extirpation (the bunion). Procedure that we consider insufficient in the majority of the cases.

They have the same inconvenient of the whole open surgery of the forefoot that we described in HALLUX VALGUS.

  Percutaneous Surgery

This is the procedure we recommend to get better aesthetical and functional corrections. See the attached pictures and diagramans.

Consists in the removal of the exostosi with a drill that we introduce in a percutaneous way. Sometimes, depending of the severity of the case, we can practice the osteotomia of the fifth metatarsal.
